PROSPECTUS

The 2nd Annual Visual Arts Alliance Show  

A juried fine art exhibition organized by the Hillsborough County Visual Arts Alliance and presented at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. This competition is opened to all artists who are members of an Alliance affiliated artist society.

Brandon League of Fine Arts                           North Tampa Arts League                               Tampa Realistic Artists, Inc.                            Westchase Artists’ Society 

JUDGE:

Judge:  Lynn Whitelaw - Director of the Leepa-Ratner Museum of Art, Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Entry and Fees:  Submission fee: one piece $10 - up to three pieces $25. Checks should be made payable to NTAL and labeled Alliance Show.  All profits from the Show will be donated to the Carrollwood Cultural Center for the promotion and education of Visual Artists of Hillsborough County and surrounding areas.           

Art Delivery:  Artists must hand deliver their work to the Carrollwood Cultural  Center on Wed. Sept. 2nd from 9 to 12 AM and 12 to 5PM * No work will be accepted after 5:00PM.

Judging:  Jurying will be done from jpegs of entries. Dimension should be  about 800x600 pixels for computer viewing. This should be about 8x10”.  Artists will be notified by email what entries have been juried into the show.  Judging will take place after the show is installed on Sept. 4th.

Show Breakdown and Art pickup will be Wednesday, Oct 30, 2009 between 1PM and 5:30PM.  Work that is not picked up will become the property of the Carrollwood Cultural Center.  No storage is available.   If you are unable to make the pickup date, please have a representative pick up your work for you.

SALES:  The Cultural Center will encourage sales by putting customers in touch with the artists.  A donation of 15% to 20% of the sale price to the CCC  is suggested by the Curator.  The CCC is a non-profit organization that operates on membership, classes, and donations.

RULES:  All artwork must be original and not previously shown at the CCC.  No teacher assisted or class generated art will be accepted.  No reproductions - No nudes.  All work must have been created after Jan.1, 2006.

SIZE LIMITS:  All 2D work may not exceed 40” in any direction, including frame and no smaller than 11x14”  Miniatures under 5X7  will be displayed in a glass case.   Bas Relief may not exceed 15lbs.  All 2 D work must be framed and wired for hanging.  Gallery wrapped canvas is acceptable but must be painted around the edges with no visible staples showing.  NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS.  *Without proper framing and wiring - works will not be accepted.  3-D work such as sculpture and hand thrown pottery must be under 18” x12. All work Juried into the show must be delivered on Sept. 2nd and remain on exhibit until September 30th. Any failure to comply with these rules will result in a strict penalty.

ARTIST RECEPTION: Reception and award ceremony Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 from 6 to 9:00 PM at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Rd. (813-269-1310) 

LIABILITY: All reasonable precautions will be taken to ensure protection of submitted work.  No liability can be assumed by the juror, sponsors, location, or personnel connected with the exhibition, for damages or loss of work.  Each artist will be required to sign an indemnity form at the time of submission.  If you have exhibited at the CCC during 2009, you will not be required to sign another form.

VOLUNTEERS WILL BE NEEDED - to assist with artwork take-in as well as show installation.
